MOT -  Mental Health Occupational Therapy

   For individuals who are experiencing any of the following , difficulty

sleeping, changes in appetite, poor concentration , feeling more irritable, feeling tearful, feeling overwhelmed, socially withdrawn, feeling helpless or hopeless, less productive, less motivated

   Aim to Identify any unhelpful behaviours, thoughts and feelings

contributing to current difficulties and develop alternative coping strategies

​​   Opportunity to pause and reflect on current situation and consider

and implement treatment options and self-help resources

​  Provide support and education about common difficulties in a

supportive, confidential and non judgmental manner

 

CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

   Requires initial assessment to establish if course of treatment suitable

   Problems include depression, panic disorder, anxiety disorder,

health anxiety, social phobia, specific phobia, PTSD – single event trauma, OCD, body dysmorphic disorder, trichotillomania (hair pulling)

   If appropriate treatment may last between 6 – 20 sessions

   As recommended in NICE guidelines for depression 2009 and

generalised anxiety disorder 2011

   Work with personality disorder or psychosis
